Just like at home, the girls got to hear stories before bed.

Actually, Kelly reads her own stories much of the time these days. Here, she's reading an 800 page Harry Potter book (and drinking water in the wine glass).

On day 20 we drove south again along the Oregon coast. We'd had no fog at Honeyman, but we hit some as we approached the California border. We stopped at this beautiful rest stop and made soup for lunch. It was a great location and wasn't as cold as it looks.

That night we stopped at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park near Crescent City in far Northern California. This is the river that runs through the campground where we threw a lot of rocks. We left plenty for the next campers, however.

On day 21 we drove to a KOA in Cloverdale. We chose the location because it was near Lake Sonoma where we hoped to have some fun. The campground had a nice pool. It was 109 degrees in the late afternoon. The first time we'd camped in over 80 degrees on the entire trip.

The next day we did go to Lake Sonoma and rented a power boat and tube. We had a great time. Here are Patty and Jessica not going particularly quickly.

They all were told that thumbs up meant faster and thumbs down meant slower. Kate, however, only seemed to remember the thumbs up part.

As you can see, even when moving very fast and crossing in and out of the wake, Kate was in heaven. :)

Kelly got motivated by watching her sister and eventually figured out it was fun to go fast. After about 30 minutes she even let me swing her out of the wake (which is more exciting).
