On day 9 we made the short drive to Yellowstone. I was struck by its alpine beauty. It reminded me of backpacking in the Sierra.

We were able to get a great campsite at Grants Village campground where we made some soup for lunch.

We then drove toward the north east part of Yellowstone and passed along Yellowstone Lake.

We saw plenty of Bison in Yellowstone (they're hard to miss).

The first hot spring (they are absolutely wild and amazing) we saw was Dragon's Mouth Spring. As you can tell, the kids didn't think it smelled too great.
