The next morning (Wednesday) was even more beautiful. I walked outside a little after 7:00 to find a mist hovering over the reservoir. It was 28 degrees outside (although you never would have known from inside the trailer). 2003:04:09 05:14:42 32 mm 1/160 f6 |

Wednesday we traversed Kansas the other direction and ended up staying at the Goodland KOA in western Kansas. Here we've stopped for gas and some lunch. For some reason we stopped for gas much more often after we picked up the trailer. 2003:04:09 10:13:51 5.40625 mm 1/640 f7.2 |

Thursday we left Kansas and entered Colorado. We turned south at Colorado Springs and ended up in southern Colorado (just outside of Walsenburg) at a beautiful spot (just as it was getting dark). 2003:04:10 17:07:40 5.40625 mm 1/400 f2.8 |

The sunset was very nice, but we didn't have much time or energy to enjoy it. We fixed dinner, made our plans for Friday and went to sleep. 2003:04:11 05:49:19 42 mm 1/125 f5.6 |

Friday morning looked just as nice. We got off to an early start and were in New Mexico before 8:00. 2003:04:11 05:51:03 24 mm 1/80 f4.5 |

We arrived at our destination (Grants, NM) by 3:30 - the earliest we had arrived in the week we'd been traveling. I quickly got out my chair and sat down - for about 10 minutes. Then got on to other things that needed doing. :) 2003:04:11 14:27:08 7.96875 mm 1/320 f3.5 |

We were in a real RV park. Crushed rock spaces with huge rigs lined up next to each other. It wasn't pretty, but it was convenient. Drive in, hook up water and electrical and you're there. No need to even un-hitch the trailer. 2003:04:11 17:24:16 35 mm 1/250 f8 |

On Saturday we drove across much of New Mexico and then south into Arizona and all the way down to Scottsdale (near Phoenix). Here you can see where I was sitting for the 3,000 miles we had driven up to this point. The extended mirrors were needed on both sides to see past the trailer. 2003:04:12 07:51:03 5.40625 mm 1/250 f7.2 |
